Fiesta 1.6 TDCI Injector Seals Changed - STILL LEAKING?! :(

    Hi all,

Had the dreaded injector seal problem last year, had them changed and all was good for a while, now recently in the last 2 months i have noticed diesel around the injectors again so had the injector seals changed yet again! (didnt think they would go this early, only had them done last year!)...

Had them changed 2 days ago and yesterday noticed that they were leaking quite badly, so took it back to the garage and they re-done everything and tightened everything back up, left the engine running for a while, took it for a spin and looked like the leak stopped.

Just took my car for a drive this morning and popped the bonnet when i got back home and they are still leaking!

What could be causing this as its becoming a pain?!

Perhaps the place that changed them didn't clean the ports out in the head where the seals live properly?

I would suggest you go back too, get them seat re-cleaned, and new seals from Ford. Make sure they are tightened to the correct Torque rating.

Hello Edward, if you can see diesel, it's not likely to be the injector seals, but more likely to be the injector leak off connectors or small rubber tubes. I replaced these injector seals myself and the only symptom with these having failed is carbon deposit from the burning diesel escaping up the side of the injector. There's also the sound which you can listen to on this posting. This post might help. See here - http://www.tdocuk.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=10036 Regarding the leak off connectors, they need plenty of Vaseline so they slip in without damage. I replaced these in 2006 and they've been fine. In my view, it's more about keeping stuff clean and working with care that produces a good result.

I agree with other postings, you need to go back to the garage and let them sort it.

The Haynes manual explains how you can remove the air cleaner box and if you do this, you'll be able to see the tops of the injectors and assess what's happening. Post some pics here.

    Good luck.

    Hope this helps.
