    Tuning PSA 1.6 HDI engine

    Hi

Have any of you done some tuning of the PSA (Peugeot/Citroen/BMW etc.) 1.6 liter HDI engine?

    1. Where to locate the EGR valve?
    2. How much can the fuel pump handle (HP)
    3. How much can the injectors handle (HP)
    4. Where to get a 1800 psi rail pressure sensor, that will fit?
    5. Can the PDF filter handle 200+ hp or?

    Thks guys

    1. back of the engine, just round the corner of the fuel filter...
    5. the dpf collects soot, so as long as you can keep the soot low enough and the bore size of the exhaust is big enough (not likely though) it'll be fine
    6. the clutch and possibly gearbox cannot handle 200 bhp, or more specifically the 400 Nm (about 300 lb/ft) that you'll generate to reach 200 bhp...
    7. depending on the car this is in, the rest of the chassis might not cope either... think drive axles and cv-joints, and obviously brakes...
    cubic inches, there's no substitute...

    1. I've asked this of some tuners and their answer was that the perceived or actual benefit would not outweigh the ballache to make this worthwhile.
    2.,3. Don't know
    4. see above
    5. Probably, the filter sensors check the pressure every 400-500km and decide whether to increase the exhaust temps by bypassing the I/C to burn the particles off (regeneration). I think as intimated above that you'll run into other problems first - like the clutch, probably followed by the gearbox and/or drive-shafts.
Don't phone and drive... ...you'll spill your drink.
